Here Come the Celts!

14-Apr-2008 We've been keeping these guys a little under wraps as we got them just right and ready for the molding process but thought that you deserved a sneak peak!

Arranged here for battle are five of the literally thousands of combinations available with this box set! They've been designed with separate arms and heads -- and also separate torsos so that you can create the dramatic poses that these ferocious warriors were known for! More to come in the next few days -- keep an eye on the Workbench!

The figures look great. Are they going to be more animated as if ready or in the process of charging or standing as though waiting for something to kick off? How many varieties will there be in a pack but it looks promising range Keep up the good work and hurry up June

Bring 'em on! These are bloody fantastic! 48 figures in a box for £18! And separate torsos like GW models. Conversion heaven!!

Very impressed with the first releases looking forward to having them, to see what combinations you can make out of the one box

Excellent work guys! Hope Osprey doesn't mind but I'm using them for Warhammer :) Simon

These look fantastic! Keep your sculptor busy! Let's see some horse and musket era when you've met your current schedule.

Pre-order sent...these are great! How many different torsos, legs, heads, arms?
BaddPainter commented on 14-Apr-2008 07:53 PM4 out of 5 stars
I'm not ordering until I see painted samples but they look pretty good. lets see some imperial romans too.

These are good stuff! Might have to send a few boxes to Fernando so as I can field some mighty armies of barbarians!

Got to agree with Baddpainter. I'm very interested but until I see both Romans and Celts Painted I won't be buying any. Nice preview pics though :)

We want plastic chariots too!

looking forward to seeing these in production and a great way of building up an army with plenty of variety. The helmet on the standard bearer may have had cheek pieces at some time and is considered to be a parade/ or display item and may not have been worn in combat. Other than that they look great

Great shot of the command and a few others. I'm with Andrew, are there going to be more dynamic poses?

28mm in fog??? noooooo, 15mm is bether, big battles and a lot of minis. 28mm is for a few minis... never buy those...

It's a great direction for the industry. With costs rising, I have often wondered when someone would start producing polymers instead of metals....they look great

I don't want to be a party pooper but I have a couple of problems with the Celts. 1. Unless the Carynx is made of space age Aluminium you probably couldn't blow it that way. Hopefully a left arm to support it will be provided. 2. Not sure but it looks like the middle figure is holding a later period long sword? Figure on the far right looks to be holding a proper LeTene Period sword. 3. As previously commented upon, they are not very dynamic. 4. Fighting Spears (as apposed to throwing spears) looks pretty generic. Celts were noted for their broad bladed spear tips. Don't get me wrong I can't wait to get my hands on them. I love the fourth from left figure straight out of Angus McBride (I love that pose).

Awesome! I can't wait until they're released!

Very very impressed with these. Can't wait to see some chariots!

Given the limits of multi part plastics the poses on these are ace. Given the comparative cost these stand up very well against current competition. Well done!

Lovely, i can see ssome units occupying my table. I only haope that Little big men studios will make some nice shield transfers for them. ... Need ... more ... time .. to paint.

Celts and Romans are a "natural" starting place. Great for newbies getting started, for me I have more than enough of each. They do look fabulous. If you ever do any Horse and Musket Era minis, I'll probably by a TON!

I have been a great fan of the Osprey books for years and am very glade to see them come out with a system for gaming. I had looked into the 15mm range after getting the rule book but after seeing these I think I will just make a bigger table. Can't wait to get a few box sets. Do you think an 4 foot by 12 foot table to be big enough?

Sorry, they look pretty poorly proportioned. As mentioned there are some pretty bad inaccuracies in the models. If you are going to make historical models do some research first. Ill wait until I see an actual figure, not computer renderings.

mmmm somebody else is on the ball, i must admit they do look a bit like orks not romans, i will just have to wait and see what there like in the flesh . Bandit

At long last plastic figures bring on the 100 years war range. Please lets have some seven years war figures. they look great. Willz

Hmmm... I'm thinking they look loads better than the wanky plastic Celts that other company is doing. At least these are proper sized 28's. Bandit knows nothing, as does the person who posted above him.
Dan Peterson, Author, "Roman Legions Recreated" commented on 30-Apr-2008 03:34 PM4 out of 5 stars
I am happy to see that these Celts are a bit taller and better proportioned than the first Roman 'dwarf' that was advertised. If the rest of the Romans look like that they will be fairly useless, but the Celts look promising and I see a Warhammer fan already sees their conversion potential. As for the Carnyx complaint by a previous poster - nonsense. I own a full size bronze reconstruction of one, and it CAN be held and blown like that, but undrstand it is held up for occasiohnal signal blasts, not continuous concertos. I do hop they will have seperate torsos so they can be made taller. Proportion wise, unless the figure is indeed a dwarf, the average human with a typical 28mm figure's head, like Warhammer should actually stand 35-40mm tall, exactly like the correctly proportioned Elastolin 40mm plastic figures who have the identical sized heads! Oh well, if they don't sell to historical wargamers, Warhammer fans will still buy them because in 'fantasy world' you CAN have dwarven legions! Let keep our finge

They look great! I will get a few sets as soon as I see them. I hope you are able to offer some chariots and cavalry in the near future.

Vos figs semblent bien attirantes et les belges en achèteront sûrement beaucoup ; Continuez et n'oubliez pas les autres époques et la fantasy . Helldog
