Sneak Peek - Viking Mini Shieldwall

04-Aug-2009 Andrés Amián Fernández has touched paint to plastic once again - this time we're showing off two Spear Danes who are (perhaps) getting into Shieldwall formation.

These figures show off two of the eight body types in this set (four in chainmail and four unarmored). The set features options for swords, axes (two sizes), spears (actually the most common weapon in a Viking army), and bows...with loads of helmeted, bare, and capped heads.

The Vikings will be released right on the heels of the Ancient German Warband and Ancient German Cavalry (and we've already started hearing about the conversion possibilities between the German and Viking sets!)

You can put down a $0-down pre-order within the Liberty and Union League HERE!

So, without further ado, enjoy!

The drapery on the mail and the tunics is stunning. These are worlds beyond the Romans. I have to admit I was an early naysayer with Wargames Factory but each release just gets better and better. These models will give the best leads a run for their money.

Tony, I think the highest praise I can give, is that the painted models have an Elastolin look about them.

Wow just wow. These are crazy good. They do look like Perry to me too except with more life to them. Don't kill me but I think some of the Perry stuff is pretty stiff. The sculpting is great but they sometimes lack something for me. I think the best they did was the metal Agincourt melee scene. Those figures really had movement and life to them. I agree with the poster on the folds of the clothing. That is really well done. When can I get them?

Just noticed the backs of the shields. Wow.

Nice paint job. Reasonable figures. Shields look over thick. Carrying a sword was the mark of a Viking - even when also carrying a spear, dagger, axe. Can a shieldwall with interlocking shields be achieved with this set, or do the arms prevent close order?

Why do the shield rims have to be so thick ? The spear arm seems to be neither up nor down, or is it possible to easily shift the angle during assembly ? They are very nice but the wrong scale !

I want them now, why it takes so long!?:P

These are very good sculpts - the chainmail actually looks like it and the physical features on the pigtailed spearman are as good as any Gripping Beast figure. Agree with the previous comment - WF figures appear to be getting better with each release!

These are freaking stunning... I've gotta get a couple of packs and some of the Germans too so I can do some of the mentioned converting into some mean looking Vikings!

And now you just need to make some Sci-Fi miniatures, and your store is PERFECT.

I've been following you guys since the website came online. And to be honest the progress you've made in this short of a time is outstanding. You guys should feel proud at not just the miniatures you produce, the advances made in miniature making, the freedom you give to your customers, and being a true competator in a niche market - but you should feel, as I am, of the amount of amazing models released. Granted you had (like all companies I am sure) a rocky start, but you kept us informed and up-to-date, and your hard work is paying dividends. I hope you guys are making good monies from us, because it would be a real travesty to loose a company as good as you guys. Keep it up!
